What happens to information when you use DOFIW
This policy explains how DOFIW handles information associated with browser-based tools, ordinary website visits, email messages, cookies, advertising services, and privacy choices.
Effective: September 1, 2026Who and what this policy covers
This policy applies to the website at dofiw.com, including its accessibility tools, educational articles, directory pages, and contact page. In this policy, “DOFIW,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of this website.
This policy does not control the privacy practices of websites reached through external links. Those services publish and apply their own terms and privacy notices.
Information depends on how you interact with the site
| Interaction | Information that may be handled | Why it may be handled |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary visit | IP address, date and time, requested page, referring page, browser, device or operating-system information, and diagnostic events. | Deliver pages, maintain security, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and understand technical performance. |
| Tool use | Colors, HTML, text, table settings, or caption timing values that you enter. | Calculate or generate the result locally in the browser, as explained below. |
| Email contact | Your email address, name if supplied, message, attachments, and related correspondence. | Read the request, investigate a report, reply when appropriate, and maintain necessary records. |
| Privacy choice | Consent or opt-out selections and associated technical signals. | Remember and communicate your privacy choices where a consent or privacy message is used. |
| Ad-supported page | Identifiers, cookies or local storage, IP address, page URL, browser data, ad interactions, and approximate location derived from an IP address. | Request, deliver, limit, personalize where permitted, measure, secure, and report advertising. |
Content entered into a DOFIW tool
DOFIW tools are designed to process supplied colors, HTML, text, table choices, and caption timing values locally through code running in your web browser. The tools do not require an account or send those inputs to a DOFIW analysis API.
It describes the calculation performed by the tool interface. It does not prevent the page request itself, advertising code, hosting infrastructure, security services, or a browser extension from processing ordinary visit data independently.
If you use a copy button, the selected output may be written to your device clipboard after browser permission or user action. If you later paste a result into another website or application, that destination controls its own processing.
Do not enter passwords, access tokens, private customer information, confidential source code, or other sensitive material. Use the smallest safe example needed for the check.
How information may be used
- provide requested pages and browser-based functionality;
- maintain availability, security, and abuse prevention;
- identify and repair technical errors;
- respond to messages and investigate reported problems;
- understand aggregate site performance and resource usefulness where measurement is enabled;
- display, measure, secure, and improve advertising where advertising is enabled;
- honor consent, opt-out, and other privacy choices;
- comply with applicable law, enforce site terms, and protect legal rights.
DOFIW does not use text or HTML entered into its local tools to build user profiles.
Advertising and Google’s use of data
DOFIW may use Google AdSense to fund free tools and articles. When Google advertising code is active, third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies in your browser or use web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers as a result of serving or measuring ads on this website.
Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to serve ads based on a user’s visit to DOFIW and other websites. Ads may also be selected from the content of the current page, general location, device information, and the privacy or advertising choices available for the request.
Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services and review the Google Privacy Policy. Users can manage personalized advertising through Google My Ad Center. Choices offered by other participating advertising companies may also be available through WebChoices.
If additional third-party advertising vendors or networks are enabled, their identities and privacy information should be made available through the applicable consent interface or an updated version of this policy.
Where required, DOFIW must also use an appropriate consent management platform or privacy message. For Google personalized ads served in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google requires publishers to use a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the applicable IAB Transparency and Consent Framework.
Consent, advertising, and browser controls
Available controls depend on your location and the services currently enabled. They may include:
- accepting, rejecting, or managing purposes and vendors in a consent message;
- using a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” or similar privacy link where displayed;
- managing Google ad personalization through Google My Ad Center;
- blocking or deleting cookies through browser settings;
- using supported browser or device privacy signals where applicable services recognize them.
Rejecting personalization does not necessarily remove all advertising. Contextual or limited ads may still appear, and some storage or processing may remain necessary for security, fraud prevention, consent records, or basic delivery.
When information may be shared
Information may be processed by service providers that support website hosting, content delivery, security, email, consent management, and advertising. Each provider may process information under its own role, contract, and privacy terms.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, investigate abuse or security threats, protect users or legal rights, or complete a reorganization or transfer of the website subject to appropriate safeguards.
DOFIW does not sell the content you enter into its local accessibility tools.
How long information is kept
Tool inputs processed only in the page are not intentionally retained by DOFIW after the page session. Hosting, security, consent, advertising, and email providers may retain their own records according to operational needs, legal requirements, contracts, and published retention practices.
Direct correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to address the message, maintain an appropriate record, protect the site, or satisfy legal obligations. No transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure, so sensitive information should not be sent by email or entered into a tool.
Providers may process information in countries other than the one where a visitor lives. Where applicable, transfers should use legally recognized safeguards.
Requests about personal information
Depending on applicable law and your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, or an appeal of certain decisions. You may also have the right to complain to an appropriate data-protection authority.
To submit a request relating to information controlled by DOFIW, email contact@dofiw.com with the subject “Privacy request.” Describe the request and the interaction involved. Additional information may be requested when reasonably necessary to verify identity and prevent unauthorized disclosure. DOFIW may retain limited information needed to document and lawfully resolve a request.
For information controlled independently by Google or another provider, use that provider’s privacy controls or contact process.
General-audience educational resources
DOFIW is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly request personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to DOFIW, contact us so the situation can be reviewed and appropriate action taken.
When this page is updated
This policy may change when site features, providers, advertising practices, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be revised when an updated policy is published. Material changes may also be highlighted through an additional notice when appropriate.
